INDEPENDENT MEDIA REPRESENTATIVES AND YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN THE 6TH NATION CONGRESS OF ELF- RC FROM JULY 23 TO JULY 27, 2006.

ELF-RC has a unique quality that is unparallel by any other when its comes to transparency and accountability of its organizational affairs. It believes that the owners of its political programs are the Eritrean people; therefore, it strives to teach its program to the people not only by its own media outlets and public seminars but also by independent Eritrean media Centers. To achieve that goal ELF-RC invited many independent media centers to participate as observers in the 6th National Congress of ELF-RC. The following were amongst those who participated at the congress.

1) Mr.  Mahmoud Osman Eylos, Executive Manager of Horn of Africa Studies Center

2) Jamal Osman Humad General Director of the Eritrean Center for Media Services (ECMS)

3) Yohannes (John) reporter from the Eastern Radio Broadcast.

Representative from these media centers were not only observers but participated fully during the discussion and like any other congress representatives and were very keen and motivated to influence the outcome of the congress. As is customary in every congress observers are nor privileged to vote but their voices were heard and without a doubt their contribution to the congress was very invaluable. ELF-RC is pleased to learn that its congress is covered by these media representatives and it has been aired live from the congress. On behalf of the congress and ELF-RC we appreciate their interest in the affairs of our nation and we kindly ask you to use their professionalism to continue the coverage of our congress and other activities of our organization when ever they see fit.

To add icing to the cake the congress nominated nine election committee and amongst them Mr. Mr. Mahmoud Osman Eylos Executive Manager of Horn of African Studies Center, who chaired the election committee. Mr. Mahmoud participated in drafting the election rules and he finally delivered a speech on half the election committee and finally he announced publicly the newly elected revolutionary council.

After the congress came to an end Nharnet.Com Representative asked              Mr. Mahmoud Osman Eylos Executive Manager of Horn of African Studies Center, his opinion about the congress. Mr. Mahmoud said first I was skeptical but when I raise my hand and express my idea on a discussion topic the whole audience accepted it and showed their support. I found this congress to be very open and engaging and educational experience. ELF-RC has raised the bar on democracy and I found this beyond my expectation

HIGLY EDUCATED YOUTH PARTICIPATED

Once a high raking PFDJ diplomat lamented that all the members of the opposition group are nearing their retirement age and after that their political influence against PFDJ will no more exist. We say ELF-RC has news for you. Many highly educated post graduated and collage graduated youth participated at the congress and are ready and armed with political consciousness to take over the responsibility to lead the nation into democracy and they are not alone. There are many  young Eritreans all over the world believe in democracy and naturally oppose any form of dictatorial administration. The 6th National Congress of ELF-RC elected two young highly educated and motivated Eritreans in the Revolutionary Council. Without doubt the congress believed that  the youth is ready to fill the gab between the old and the young generation and the straggle for democracy is guaranteed to continue.

That is why the respected ELF War Veteran and leader, Tesfai Teklezgi, when nominated for leadership said  “ I believe the young Eritreans are ready to lead us to the next level and I must clear the way for them and give them the opportunity to lead us and I withdraw my nomination to the leadership”. Tesfai Teclezghi was wounded while defending his country from the enemy invading our liberated town of Mendefera in 1978 at the war in Mereb.
