The Long Arm of Law
Toronto EriForum,
April 22, 2004
The recent desperate clamor by PFDJ
operatives in Sweden is nothing more than common PFDJ endeavors to silence
the emerging democratic waves. Over the years EriForum encountered similar
incidents. PFDJ utilized every trick in the book to silence our members and
to curb our movement, but to no avail.
The main objectives of the PFDJ operation
in Toronto like many other places can be summarized into two categories. To
have and hold control of the public to sustain loyalty; and to gouge money
from the public to maintain it’s financial flow.
EriForum has initiated public awareness,
exposing PFDJ scandals many times over. But PFDJ office got a little
sophisticated and started to establish shadow organizations and enterprises
as a camouflage to divert public attention from its unholy practices. These
establishments were utilized, as its satellite organizations to benefit from
financial activities in concerts, soccer tournaments or festivals. Also
EriForum initiated public awareness campaign to expose any enterprise that
deprives private enterprises to take charge.
EriForum employed legal means at its
disposal to do away with the economic activities the PFDJ was engaged in. It
is important to note, that the PFDJ operated illegal business activities for
so long. Such businesses were money-laundering/transfer that have been
evading sales and income taxes, importing performers for concerts without
license, immigration documents and contravening local laws. We were
successful in circumventing funding from municipal government for PFDJ
projects that was not benefiting the public. The recent Washington D.C.
raid by US Customs & Immigration is self-evident that shows the involvement
of PFDJ in such illegitimate business activities.
As the noose is getting tighter, last
year, PFDJ unleashed its agents at demonstrators organized by EriForum at a
PFDJ event. As a matter of fact, the PFDJ attempted to provoke the
demonstrators to engage them into violence. As a result altercations ensued
and the so-called “festival” was a total failure.
Consequently, a legal proceeding against
PFDJ thugs was launched. Today we find the PFDJ thugs remorseful and begging
for mercy. They are knocking at every door to convince the person(s) to drop
the charges.
From
experience, our advice to all-democratic movements is to pursue legal means
at every juncture to stop such dirty PFDJ tactics once and for all. We
encourage you to Inform government authorities of any illegal PFDJ
activities.
Similarly, in the recent incident of
Stockholm, Sweden, we encourage the concerned parties to press charges
against the culprits who chose to engage in violence by throwing chairs.
Take your pictures, videotapes including any available preponderant evidence
you can obtain and fight them to the end.
We at EriForum like to warn those mongers
to disassociate themselves from PFDJ proxies and return to a peaceful
dialogue with all free thinking Eritreans, if not your fate will be like
those who are waiting to face the wrath of law.
