FBI closes PFDJ Eritrean Cultural Center as a criminal site

Federal Bureau of Investigation commonly known as FBI, a crime investigating arm of the government of the United Sates of America has closed PFDJ community center in Washington DC as criminal site since Wednesday, April 14, 2004.  Our sources tell us that computers have been taken from the office.  Nharnet correspondent has not been able to confirm the exact nature of the investigation and reason for the closure.  Sources considered knowledgeable about the case told us the case is related to the transfer of funds by the office.  Nharnet correspondent from the area has not been able to ascertain if the office has the proper license to do the transfers while it has given a seemingly banking service to residents who have bank accounts in Eritrea which is owned by the government of Eritrea.

The office is officially known as Eritrean Cultural  (Community) Center.  It is routinely known as "Bet Tsihfet" in Tigrinia, roughly translated to English as "The Office".  The impact of the investigation on individual residents of the United States of Eritrean origin is not yet known.  Nharnet has been able to confirm that long lines have been seen in the weeks leading up to the closure.  The long lines are due to many individuals trying to buy land in the different cities and provinces in Eritrea.

It is rather a common knowledge that the sale of land to Eritrean Residents of the West and Middle East has been one of the biggest sources of income to PFDJ.  Nharnet has written frequent editorials on the illegality of taking land away from its legitimate owners, the people, and put it under the governmental ownership.  Many believe land ownership has been the single most important reason that Eritreans in the Diaspora have been quiet against all PFDJ blunders and remain timid.
