Eritrean Democratic Association (EDA) sponsors ELF-RC Festival in The USA

Nharnet has learned that Eritrean Democratic Association (EDA), an association of Eritrean Americans who want a democratic government established in Eritrea will start sponsoring an annual event which will be known as USA EDA/ELF-RC Festival. 

Nharnet checked with the EDA spokes person and confirmed such an event will start this year, probably towards the end of June.  The spokes person said that a democratic government does not get established with out a democratic force (organization) with unwavering conviction for democracy and rule of law leading the struggle.  Thus EDA finds it natural to create alliance with ELF-RC and sponsor events where there is education as well as promotion of democracy, its implementation, abiding by rule of law where the majority rules and the view of the minority is respected and freely expressed.

Nharnet contacted Mr. Habtemariam Kifle, RC member and chairman of the ELF-RC side preparatory committee and confirmed that USA EDA/ELF-RC Festival is scheduled to be held towards the end of June.  He believes ELF-RC is still vibrant with all of its organs in tact capable of hosting such a major event.  The general sentiment is that Eritreans in the Diaspora are more and more losing hope on PFDJ and ELF-RC is the first organization that comes to their mind as a democratic alternative that has clear vision towards a prosperous democratic Eritrea with unity in diversity.

Others familiar with the preparation of the festival  told Nharnet that members and supporters will start the USA festival with determination and take it to the level of ELF-RC festival in Germany, Europe using similar approach.  Many of them informed Nharnet that the USA festival has advantage over the one in Germany in its starting stages because it is starting big and PFDJ followers do not have the same vigor they had then.  Never the less, the organizers say that the festival will be handled with the same determination and effort.  It is expected that opposition organizations will be invited and there will be activities, seminars, and other events that will meet a wide range of interest.

Announcement will be made in the very near future and invitations will start flowing soon after.  The Preparatory Committee said that it will seek the support and participation of all those who like to see a democratic system of governance, peace, and prosperity in Eritrea.
