International Human Rights Day
Celebrated by peaceful demonstration in Stockholm

The international Human rights day that used to be celebrated on 10th, December was being a manifestation day for human rights abuses in the city of Stockholm where more than 15 organizations were gathered. The manifestation that has started at 15.00 o’clock local time ended at 17.00 local time, under the theme, ” United for Human Rights” was an indication of unity and support for the struggle against  human rights abuses and oppression against citizens all over the world.

 

Human rights are universal and concerns all of us. They must be respected by all states of the world. It is high time to say no to oppression and violence of human rights- the universal human rights,civil and political rights, economic and cultural rights.

 

At 15.00 local time , the programme of the rally started, preceded by five minutes silence for the memory of those who suffer in the dungeons of the human rights violators all over the world.

 

People from various nationals gathered bearing placards and slogans reflecting human rights abuses in their respective countries.


The rally was opened by the mistress ( Liberal party) of the cermonies. She addressed the meeting welcome and stressed how important their participation is in this rally, commomerating huaman rights abuses in Eritrea, Cuba , White Russia, Tibet and others………….etc.

 

Representatives of the various participant organizations delivered their appeal speeches one by one followed by music and songs of each country.


The Eritrean appeal speech was preceded by music and song , by Mr. Tecle Abraha former Zerai –Deres Band. Mr. Nair Fesseha- member of the co-ordinating committee delivered the appeal.In his speech, he stressed the right of asylum in Sweden, for those Eritreans who escaped from political persecution in Eritrea. He also urged the government, parliament and political parties in Sweden to protest strongly and take action against the regime in Eritrea.

 

Finally, all demonstration organizers came to the stage waving their respective countries flags and shouting slogans condemning the regimes/ governments violating the rights of their citizens. The manifestation that was held in Stockholm, on Friday 10th , of  December was successful as a symbol of unity at the international level.
