A Voice of Democracy, Adhanet Andu Passed Away

Nharnet Team along with all members of ELF RC, leadership and bases alike, have  received the passing of  a bold fighter Adhanet Andu, on April 7, 2005,  with grief and sorrow.

Ms. Adhanet, one of the prominent figures of leadership of the General Eritrean Women's Union, (GEWU) of ELF was a gift to the Eritrean revolution. With all of her devotion and determination, she fought for our national independence and for women's emancipation.

Adhanet was a woman proud of her Eritrean nationality and womanhood.  She lived a bold, unrelenting and above all very kind and generous life that is deserves respect.

Adhanet had a very unique personal trait that was recognizable from far.  She was always herself; spoke exactly how she felt and what was at her heart. She was always true to herself, friends and her people and particularly to the Eritrean women. She passed while still striving for high ideals. It is with great gratitude we recall her unfailing devotion and kindness and remember for who she was – a fighter always on the side of justice and equality.

The passing of Ms. Adhanet has, has for sure created an empty space in the opposition which can not be filled easily. The opposition and the Eritrean people in general and the suffering Eritrean women in particular have lost an irreplaceable voice of democracy and women’s right.

Please note that, a funeral Service for fighter Adhanet Andu will be held at 2:30 p.m. (local time) Wednesday April 13, 2005 at Eglise Saint Pierre de Montrouge, Paris.

For those of you who could not attend the funeral service, Nharnet.com has devoted a page for Adhanet's respect. You may sign online and express your condolences.

You can also send message of sympathy via email using the address: remember-adhanet@nharnet.com and the Nharnet Team will forward to her family.

We convey our sincere sympathy to her son Adal Tesfay and all members of her family.
