A Joint Statement
By members of the Eritrean Democratic Alliance - London
On March
23, 2005 representatives of member organisations of the Eritrean
Democratic Alliance in Great Britain held an informational evening. The
representatives of the organisations who participated in the meeting
expressed their full support for the newly created Eritrean Democratic
Alliance and regarded its foundation in response to the wishes and
aspirations of all patriotic Eritrean people as breakthrough. The
participants further expressed their gratitude to the members of the
organisations who took the initiative to organise the informational
evening.
The
highlights of the evening included the free unbiased exchange of ideas
in a spirit of mutual respect and understanding between the
participants. The informational evening served the purpose of gathering
representatives of various political and organisational backgrounds,
perhaps for the first time. The meeting was free of partisan bias; as
the participants expressed their readiness to cooperate and subsequently
elected a provisional committee consisting of three members to
coordinate their activities.
The members
of the EDA present at the meeting discussed several important issues
including more attention and urgency to the following items:
-
EDA is an
inclusive national umbrella organisation that deserves the respect and
support of all peace loving Eritreans. However it can not be immune of
any future obstacles. Cognisant of this fact, the participants have
agreed to coordinate their activities to preserve the achievement and
act to correct shortcomings.
-
For our
capacity building, in order to enable us to deliver a regular public
information campaign, the participants urge the appropriate EDA branch
to provide the necessary tools that serves the ultimate goals of
preserving unity.
-
The
participants agreed to function within the guidelines of the collective
agreement, and to seek further clarifications if necessary on issues
that require such clarification from the leadership.
Victory for
the Eritrean Democratic Alliance!
Down With
the Dictatorial Regime!
Respect and
Eternal Glory to our martyrs!
