PFDJ and
The Legacy of Twisting The Truth
Contrary to the claim of all the media outlets that are affiliated to
the repressive PFDJ regime in Asmara, a long distance runner Yared
Asmerom who participated and stood 9th in the 14th
international Men's Half Marathon Race in Edmonton, Canada, never made
it back to Eritrea.
Factually, upon completing the race during the first week of October
2005 he defected and went to Manitoba where he stayed 2 weeks with his
relatives hiding from the PFDJ operatives. In the course of searching
out a viable way for requesting political asylum, he contacted a brother
of his childhood friend who permanently resides in Ottawa, Ontario. Once
Yared shared with him his plight and intention for political asylum,
that eavesdropper, simply told Yared to take a flight to Ottawa by
promising to assist him how to go about his claim in approaching the
Canadian authority. Mr. Yared trusted the person and flew to Ottawa in
October 19, 2005 anticipating to get instant sanctuary and protection.
To all his horror, the Eritrean Embassy Representative, Mrs. Nura and
her driver picked him up from the lobby of Ottawa International Airport
and he eventually ended up under detention in her residential house.
Subsequently, members of the ELF-RC were tipped off that traumatizing
incident and kept vigilantly following up daily development on behalf of
the victim. By conniving a deadly scheme and in order to absorb his
frustration, instead of treating him as a fugitive, Mrs. Nura tried in
vain to appease him and kept boosting his self-esteem by depicting him
as a legend that would be a real source of pride for the nation. On the
outside world, she was straightening up his air ticket and arranging his
trip to Asmara. When Mrs. Nura thought she made sure that he wouldn't
mind to go back to Eritrea by simply misjudging his intention she told
him about the arrangement and the scheduled time for his trip. The
airbus that carried him took off from Ottawa International Airport on
Wednesday October 25, 2005 at 5:00 pm on transit of Pearson
International Airport. His trip to Toronto took roughly 1 hour and some
minutes.
It was under such circumstance that the gallant ELF-RC members took the
responsibility and co-operated with him in diverting his route and
saving him from the open mouthed shark in Asmara waiting to engulf him.
