People: We must
act before the beast
In this century where fiber optics and technology
transformed many lives around the world, we Eritrean continue witnessing
that our country been destroyed, our young brothers and sisters cannon
fed in unnecessary regional wars and the remaining trying to escape the
miserable life under the dictatorial regime. We hear and read of the
horror stories of our loves one experienced at the hand of the rogue
regime of Issaias. In nutshell, the whole country is turned to earthly
hell. Yet, the international community in general and we Eritrean lives
in the western community turned our back and gave a deaf ear to the
crying for help of our people.
Like any dictator, dictator Issaias came and
clinging to power, exterminating innocent people. Since, independence
this regime wasted immense resources, and destroyed the cultural and
human values of the nation. The dictatorial regime killed and imprisoned
hundreds and hundreds of his opponents, tortured civilians, mutilated
children, raped women and executed many innocent without trials. This
regime of Issias buried his victims in darkness in mass graves denying
them and their families the minimum human curtsey and dignity expected
of and from humankind.
The dictator watched the act of torture of
prisoners by his mindless Warsai Yekealo prison wardens, army and police
officers from his presidential palace chair. For the dictator it is as
easy as one two three to decide the fate of the country by sending in
mass our brothers and sisters in to regional wars: Congo, Yemen, Sudan,
Ethiopia and now Somalia from his land- curser seats chatting with his
concubines or drinking whiskey with his likeminded blood thirsty cut up
generals. As a result of his madness children are orphaned, women are
widowed, and thousands were killed and maimed. To the living, the
miserable life and the level of torture is gruesome to account. His
actions are no different from the dictators before him, and his regime
is getting worse than that of came- rouge regime.
What is shocking is Eritrean in Diaspora watches
this madness of the dictator with utter apathy. And not only that, we in
Diaspora unashamed participate in the regime’s festivals and dancing
over our people’s sweet and blood. When one is indifferent to the
suffering of his people, one has indeed taken a moral stand. A moral
stand which says, the life or pain of the poor Eritrean people is of no
consequences. And, those who chose to remain in silence when the country
has been destroyed by the dictator have to come to terms with their
conscience before it’s too late.
Those who
have sold their souls to the dictator to build retirement homes @ stolen
and illegally bought land, and visit back and forth the poor country
loaded their pocket with Abu-Salama, while the Eritrean people living in
earthly hell will have to prepare themselves for the day of reckoning.
And the day is near. |
