ELF-RC Vice-Chairman Holds Meeting

For Party Formation Committees in
Khartoum
By
ELF-RC Office for Information and Culture
Mr. Tesfai Woldemichael (Degiga), the ELF-RC vice-chairman who is also
the chairman for the Party Formation Coordinating Body, on October 20,
2006 held a lengthy meeting in Khartoum, Sudan, to brief committees and
sub-committees in charge of the party formation process in Khartoum and
its environs.

Attending the meeting
were: a) members of the Information and Assessment Committee all of whom
are RC members, b) members of ELF-RC branch committees in Khartoum, and
c) members of Information and Assessment Sub-Committees.

Participants were in
possession of documents prepared on the subject of party formation and
received intensive briefing on the process underway. After defining
terms like party, ideology, differences of a party and a front, and why
we are forming a party, Mr. Tesfai Degiga briefed the meetings on what
is going on in other branches and ‘zobas’ of the organization in regard
to the party formation process.

The meeting
participants exhaustively discussed on how to implement the 6th
Congress decision on party formation with others outside the ELF-RC. In
exclusive meetings later in the day, the various committees draft work
plans for their activities in Khartoum and its environs.

Mr. Tesfai Degiga
chairs the Party Formation Coordinating Body whose members consist of
Mr. Mohammed Adem Artaa, Mr. Tekle Melekin, Mr. Mengisteab Asmerom and
Mr. Assefaw Berhe, all ELF-RC Executive Committee members. This Body
gives guidance to already formed 13 Information and Assessment
Committees in all places where the ELF-RC has members. Under formation
by the Information and Assessment Committees are sub-committees in every
city where Eritreans reside so that the message of the all-inclusive
party formation process can be widely explained to concerned Eritreans
who can ascribe to the visions of the party under formation.
It is to be recalled
that the ELF-RC chairman, Mr. Woldeyesus Ammar, and the vice-chairman,
Mr. Tesfai Degiga, arrived in Khartoum on October 17, 2006 after a few
months’ absence from the city on duties that took them to the holding of
the 6th Congress in Ethiopia, the 21st Eritrea
Festival in Frankfurt, the 3rd Eritrean Cultural Festival in
Seatlle; public meetings in Frankfurt and Cologne in Germany, and
finally a successful mission to Sweden between 6 and 12 October 2006.
