MESSAGE OF FECILTALLON AND
CONDOLECE
IN MEMORY OF THE 16 th ANNIVERS’ARY
OF ERITREAN IND EPENDENCE
A message from EDA Block –I to all the oppressed people of Eritrea
containing two absolutely contradictory words:” felicitation and
condolence,” and yet two faces of the same coin, interlocked and
inseparable, which in combination graphically describe the reality in
Eritrea that had sustained for 16 consecutive years since the
dictatorial system’s grip on power by sheer muzzle of the gun.
Message of felicitation” goes for the 30 years long bitter struggle
that had cost our people insurmountable sacrifices. Nonetheless, the
blood they had shed and the lives they had sacrificed had born fruit,
culminating in an –all out victory over colonial rule, a pageant
landmark in Eritrean history. That factual and actual result of the
arduous struggle will be transcended to future generations not as a
matter of eliciting pride of the nation, but to also highlight the
luminous watershed as a giant achievement upon which the vanquished
country and the destitute people could launch and afresh, to
constructively engage themselves in nation- building and in
socio-economic progress.
Message of “condolence;” because following the humiliating defeat of
the armed forces of the colonial power and their immediate withdrawal
from Eritrea in May 1991, our people had high hopes from thence onwards,
expecting that freedom, peace and justice would strive and thrive; and
that war and news of war would stop for good ; that Eritrea would enjoy
stability and tranquility; and that those dispersed nationals around the
world would converge once again in their country of origin, and that
there never will be sorrow and agony anymore. But they were soon to
witness that the oppressive régime, unconstitutional, undemocratic,
anti-peace, anti-justice and anti- progress and development was only apt
to cripple their aspirations and to deprive them of their legitimate
rights in shaping the destiny of their future. As a result, what they
had been yearning for many decades had vanished like vapor long before
the blood they had shed to that effect was dry. Our people are thus
being flogged, tortured, blinded, maimed and killed by the day and hit
hard by the scourges of disease, displacement, poverty and backwardness.
Eritrea under the rogue regime is a topical subject because of its
gross violation of human rights in general and for imprisoning and
cajoling journalists; human rights activists; religious leaders of the
opposition forces in general and parents whose sons had either escaped
national military service or had evaded military conscription in
particular. Eritrea, under the tyrannical system is identified as a
state indulging itself in the internal affairs of other countries by
provoking and perpetrating conflicts and wars with the intention of
creating chaos, instability and destruction, it is being condemned and
isolated by the states of the region and the world community at large.
The border war with Ethiopia had cost Eritrea more than 19,000 youths
and financially in many millions of USD. Its intervention in the
internal affairs of the Sudan is detested by the Eritrean people has
impoverished the country in to the brink of collapse. As if lavishly
spending on the meager resources of the poor country had not been
enough, the die-hard predator system is yet again training; arming,
organizing and facilitating conditions for warring factions fighting
bitterly in Somalia. There seems no end to the arrogance and
belligerence of the blood –shedding system. In total PFDJ, master of a
refined debauchery is pushing the country into the brink of collapse.
Needless to say, our heroic people have not subdued to the vandalism
of its Machiavellian designs which is being spread like wildfire across
the country. However, our people‘s staunch protests against of the
leadership which the reckless system is mounting by the day and steadily
spilling over every corner of the world. This is evidenced for example,
by the distribution of give –away leaflets of the opposition
organizations inside the country, by peaceful demonstrations being
staged by Eritrean living abroad, and by news and information
disseminated by the Eritrean media, which deserves high appreciation at
this time in point, All these activities in combination expose the true
nature and the destructive policies of the dictatorial system. It is
therefore .understandable that these sweep turn of events in the
Eritrean political scene could render the demagogue and rigid to the
core Isaias regime shiver to the nerves and entail haunting panic in its
untamed its collective disposition. Whatever it might cost them however,
our valiant people should persistently and relentlessly continue the
struggle until the anti-human system falters to pieces and is removed
from power.
In this connection, EDA BLOCK –I expresses its firm conviction that
it is committed to achieve the lofty aspirations of the poor people by
adhering strictly to the police charter of EDA. For that to come by, it
will do its level best in consultation with EDA Block – II to remedy
the rift that had split the central organization in to two factions –of
course, the endeavor to that end would need full support of the valiant
people.
