Mengisteab Asmerom, the provisional
chairman of the Eritrean Democratic Alliance (Bloc-One) and head of the
ELF-RC Office for Information and Culture, has returned to Germany after
his mission to Sweden which lasted between 16 May and 6 June 2007.
While in Sweden, he took part at an
all-Scandinavia seminar of ELF-RC branches; held lengthy interviews –
two hours each - with two television programmes in Stockholm managed by
Eritreans (TV-Adal and TV-Zete), and was a guest speaker at an Eritrean
Paltalk Room called Eritrean Democracy for All – Nackao, in which the
virtual audience reached well over 140 and lasted for over four hours.
In his presentations, ELF-RC
leadership member gave detailed accounts of the difficult situation
within Eritrea and the latest developments in ELF-RC as well as the
situation in EDA. In all occasions, he responded with accuracy and
integrity to all questions posed by members of the various audiences.
Likewise, he shed clear and corrective light on distortion of facts and
unfounded allegations against EDA-1 and the ELF-RC raised by marginal
groups and elements that feel ‘big’ whenever they name-call those
engaged in real struggle.
On 12 June 2007, Megisteab Asmerom is
due to leave Frankfurt for Washington DC, USA, on mission. Both
Mengisteab and the ELF-RC vice-chairman, Tesfay Woldemichael (Degiga),
will represent the ELF-RC leadership at the 4th Festival of
the Eritrean Democratic Association that is due to take place in Chicago
between 23 and 24 June 2007. This high-level ELF-RC delegation will also
meet in North America with governmental and non-governmental bodies and
hold meetings for ELF-RC members as well as for the general public in
several cities of the United States.
