We are all brothers with different mothers

No response to Asfaha Woldemichael and Zemhret Andemicael of Sharki

Thank you all of you who aggressively responded my frankly written articles focusing on conflict management and the problem of unity in Eritrea. My friends Asfaha and later Zemhret have never touched the issues I have raised in my serial articles, instead they have taken some rhetoric terms and confused the discussion that would have continued between me and them.

Your arguments discourage diversity of thinking and opinions. Such counter arguments hinder the progressive emergence of mutual understanding of the problems of unity and search for common solution for our domestic problems. I have learned from your arguments that we are far away to practice dialogue. Dialogue enables us to find the true meaning of life and makes our natural intelligence to reveal itself. Through dialogue we afford the possibility of recognizing ourselves. The message of my first article was for dialogue in non –adversarial way but it was misquoted by brother Asfaha.

As I see if the process of writing articles is becoming to pronounce judgements against each other, then I have stopped responding such people pronouncing judgements. I am ready to listen any one for a deeper knowledge and understanding on what is best for Eritrean people.

If the ELF-RC is of the opinion that the best method of organizing a state/ society is a united decentralized administration and if the EFDM, Afar, Kunama, Sagem, ELF, Islah and Islamic Party for justice and development have the opinion that the best method of organizing a state /society is democratic decentralization meaning that devolution of powers should be regulated by elected bodies accountable to the people.

The term decentralization is an element of federalism not of Unitarianism. Later adopted by the unitary states to delegate power.

Administrative decentralization( see George Mathew and Anand Mathew, Institute of Social Science, New Delhi) refers to delegating functions to bodies at lower levels through bureaucratic structures where accountability is to the higher authority. The higher authority can at any time take it away without peoples’ consent.

The focus of my articles was how are going to organize the Eritrean society at the state structure. The mechanism of accountability is more efficient in a democratic decentralization than in a bureaucratic structure.

What makes us different is our future visions and what makes us brothers is –Our country Eritrea. Let us with civility allow and listen each other the flow of meaning and stop dictating others because of their ideas and values because politics is not the domain of few elites.
