By
EPP Dept for Information and Culture
Large numbers of Eritreans from many
countries have started arriving in Germany to attend the 23rd
Eritrea Festival which will be held at the Bochenheimer Warte University
in the heart of Frankfurt between 8 and 10 August 2008. Annually
organized by the Eritrean Democratic Association in Germany in close
cooperation with the former ELF-RC branches in Europe, who are now
members of a new party, this year’s events at the festival are expected
to have added colour because of being held in the immediate aftermath of
the constituent and first congress of the Eritrean People’s Party.
The plenary ceremony, which starts at
2pm Saturday, 9 August, will be addressed by a senior official
representing the Mayor of the City of Frankfurt, representatives of
German parties as well as a number of civil organizations. Also
addressing the plenary will be the chairman of the Eritrean Democratic
Party, Mr. Mesfin Hagos, and representatives of the Eritrean Al Nahda
Party, the Eritrean Pepole’s Movement and others. The keynote address
will be presented by the chairman of the Eritrean People’s Party, Mr.
Woldeyesus Ammar. Detailed explanations will be made about the recent
EPP congress and the prospects of consolidating a viable force that
would give hope to the Eritrean people to organize themselves and remove
the dictatorship in the country.
Panelists at the annual Eritrea of
Tomorrow Seminar at the 23rd Festival will include Mr.
Abdurahman Al-Sayed, an Eritrean human rights and democracy advocate
from the UK, who will be talking about representative and good
governance in Eritrea after the current dictatorship. Mr. Assefaw Berhe,
a leadership member of the new EPP, will talk about reconciliation that
comes through change of archaic attitudes, and Mr. Mussie Semere, a
young man from Germany, will present a paper on the right economic
system that Eritrea of tomorrow should follow.
The 23rd festival will be entertained
by a good number well known Eritrean singers who will include Hussein
Mohammed Ali from London and Eyob Haile from Germany.
