Three Years since we buried our hero

December has been always remembered as a martyrs’ day by ELF_RC and continues to be observed by EPP branches in many parts of the world this month.  This observation is based on the massacre of Ona population and the burning of the village, which Nharnet has extensively reported in the past.

As we pay tribute to our martyrs, we need to keep their promise alive which was the independence of our country and justice and liberty for every Eritrean.  This noble objective of our fallen heroes has been a dream which has not been realized.  To the contrary, their promise and dream has been replaced with oppression at its worst level marred with trademarks of imprisonment without due process, hunger, torture and mass exodus of the youth to no-where.

In such a time of unfulfilled dream and intolerable living of our people, we miss our heroes who could have played important role in this crucial time.  One of our heroes which is talked about by a lot of people and remembered on the third anniversary of his passage is our Seyoum Ogbamichael.  As we struggle to shape the opposition and encourage our people to fight on, he is remembered for his bravery, stead fast stand for the right of our people.  He was a sole voice against the human right abuses in our country by single handedly presenting documents to the United Nations, and various Human Right organizations throughout the world for a ling time.   He held meetings with many representatives in person.

At this juncture, we cannot reverse the human nature and get him back.  However, we choose to reassure him and all of our fallen heroes who gave their lives for the cause of the country and its people that we are continuing the journey for justice and liberty which they passed on to us.  We need to renew our commitment that we will remain true to the cause for which our Seyoum and his fellow heroes fell on the day which we said our involuntary good bye to him.

All left for EPP members and all those who knew him is talk about his steadfastness, his love of his country and people, his devotion to democracy and his humor in dark and tough times.  As we talk about him, we draw from his strength and courage to keep going until the dream of our people and our fallen heroes is fulfilled; a government from the people to the people is formed, the bells of justice are rung, liberty prevails in place of oppression, and prosperity is rooted in place of hunger.

The Vision of our Fallen Heroes will be Realized!!!!!
