The First Anniversary of Nharnet.com
It has been a year since Nharnet.com was first
launched. The first thing we need to do is say Thank You, to you,
the reader for your readership, and the writers for writing articles.
We also thank those who sent us feedback whether it is a message of
support and encouragement or points of criticism and correction. We are
also proud that Nharnet was on 24 hours 7 days a week for the whole year
despite a relentless virus attack and immense hacking attempts by PFDJ and
its cronies.
It is known that Nharnet is an official website of
ELF-RC. Despite that fact though, we have tried to entertain all
points of view except very few that we thought were totally out of line.
Some question the wisdom of posting articles that directly criticize,
attack or blame the organization. However, we want to show that
healthy and analytical debate is good for our organization with the clear
understanding that articles are opinions of those who write them and are
not endorsed by the organization in any way, shape or form. This is
also true about articles submitted by members and supporters of the
organization itself. Organizational contents are posted with
official emblem of ELF-RC or from an official organ of the organization.
We also admit that it has not been always easy or possible to establish
and verify who the contributors of the articles are. We have
encountered fake addresses and telephone numbers and occasionally
impersonation.
In the year Nharnet has been in service, a lot of
political developments have taken place. Some developments are to
the worse and some to the better. Nharnet has witnessed and reported
the different demonstrations against PFDJ in different cities of the
world. Nharnet also reported the plight of Eritrean refugees dying
in the deserts, drowning in the oceans and maltreatment at different
prisons as well as streets of big cities. Some also were deported
back to the cruel and merciless hands of PFDJ. Nharnet also reported
the closure of the press in Eritrea and the jailing of journalists for
just doing their job and perform their duties. We also reported on
the developments of the arbitration on the boarder between Eritrea and
Ethiopia. We are poised hopefully to report on the peaceful
conclusion of the demarcation of the same boarder. Nharnet also
handled the 5th annual meeting of the secretariat of the Alliance and its
unexpected results with integrity. We also entertained the need for
a national conference. Right now, Nharnet is campaigning for the
relief of starvation looming among our people where we are calling every
one to do all they can to lend a helping hand. We also saw our
people falling under a total military rule under the most trusted Generals
of Isayas. Nharnet brought you current news from Eritrea.
Nharnet is about national sovereignty, equality,
freedom of press, justice and other political amenities that come along
with establishing a democratic government. Nharnet is not about
hatred, it is not
about revenge either as ELF-RC is not. It is not about coming to
power either; it is rather for handing the political power to its
legitimate owners, the people of Eritrea. ELF-RC as a political
organization and Nharnet.com as an organ that supports ELF-RC, work to
increase its influence on the people through its political programs.
The only way ELF-RC will be a significant force in the Eritrea of the
future is though its acceptance by the people. Nharnt's purpose is
to dismantle the dictatorial system as a governance of the people and
replace it with a democratic system with free competition of all political
parties based on one person exercising one vote. At that point
which ever party or organization wins the hearts and minds of our people
will have the majority say in the Eritrean Political Power structure.
That is the only guarantee for peace and prosperity.
Nharnet will stay the course until such a goal is achieved.
Nharnet.com would like to start its second year
on-line by encouraging Eritreans for civil and courteous dialogue among
themselves. We have to knock down the divisive wall among them and
work together for their people. Right now our people are the losers.
It has become a country where every one wants to leave behind.
Thousands of Eritreans are paying thousands and venture into the unknown.
Life is becoming unbearable by the day. Not a single province,
region, or religion is spared from the tentacles of PFDJ. Lets
approach even those who show us faces of hatred with civility and courtesy
and engage in a meaningful discussion. Show them that ELF-RC is
about unity not division.
