EPM/EDP-EPP Joint Committee Meeting

On 9 July
2009, delegations of the Eritrean People’s Movement (EPM) and the Joint
leadership Committee (JLC) of the Eritrean Democratic Party (EDP) and
the Eritrean People’s Party (EPP) met in the Ethiopian capital of Addis
Ababa to review the accord reached between the three chairmen last
February in Frankfurt, Germany.
This
meeting of EPM leadership with JLC delegation upgraded the existing
accord and underlined the fact that there remains no stumbling block for
proceeding for merger into a unified party of these three Eritrean
opposition organizations.
The
outcome of the meeting shall be circulated for the ongoing discussions
of the total membership of the three parties whose recommendations are
expected to reach the respective leaderships by 31 July 2009.
